Pediatric Tuina (code 24105)
Tuina therapy is a medical massage which uses techniques specifically designed for children, done in playful manner. It is gentle and friendly, which means they will be more open to the therapy.
Children remain clothed throughout the treatment and are accompanied by a parent/caregiver. Pediatric Tuina is highly effective when treating both acute and chronic diseases. It helps to balance the qi (energy) and to strengthen the child’s constitution. It is applied to children between the age of 0-7 years. Between the age of 7-12 years, a combination of pediatric and regular Tuina may be applied. Chinese medicine considers qi to be pure in the early stages of life, which is why children respond promptly to treatment. “Early intervention works best”, this is because the disorders have not had the time to manifest into complicated patterns, as seen in adulthood. These techniques are easy to learn and will be performed by the therapist while parent watches. This will enable the parent to repeat the treatment at home, enhancing the therapeutic effect, whilst reducing the time needed with the therapist. Conditions commonly treated:

Pediatric Tuina is beneficial to all children and is commonly used in China on healthy children as it supports the digestive system and strengthens the immune system. This is a great way to improve overall health. For children with Autism, SPD, ADHD, ADD or HSP, QST would be a better treatment option. Please check with your insurance provider to see if you are eligible for reimbursement. |
